Livin' the DREAM...give me your two cents!

A few weeks ago I was wheeling a cart full of old eMacs (yes, that's right...eMacs) down the hallway, covered in dust, sweating profusely after having spent roughly an hour untangling and loading them.  One of my favorite teachers (this is for you Koehler!) stepped out of her room and casually said, "Livin the dream, huh, Johnston?"  I cracked up thinking about all of the little not-so-glamorous, unsophisticated things I do in my job that few people probably even know about.  Like standing on a folding 6' table with a tripod to get a good vantage point for shooting a Harlem Shake video with middle schoolers...  (a few times I thought for sure I was going down!)

I would love to hear how you're "livin' the dream" as an Instructional Technology Specialist.  Aside from all of the wonderful, fulfilling things we get to do with teachers and kids, I know there are those of you out there who are pulling cable, hauling equipment and balancing precariously on furniture.    Leave me a comment and let me know you're favorite moment this year!  :)

  1. Ha! I was having a "livin' the dream" moment today while I carried a ladder around my campus to clean all the ceiling mounted projector filters in every classroom. Uber glamorous!

  2. Funny thing. I was just doing something like that this morning. A teacher comes to me and says they were throwing a ball around in her room and something fell off her projector. She hands me a filter. So I had to climb up on a student's desk first thing this morning and have the kid hold my ankles so I can put the filter back on. Good thing I wasn't wearing a dress.

  3. This literally made me laugh out loud because this is also *my life* and this exact conversation happened at my school as I pushed a MacBook Air cart loaded with a 30 iPads on top amongst my camera, my iPad, my Starbucks, a clipboard with my schedule and my plan book. As I hurried down the hall (late after computer issues and SOL testing) the cart crashed into the wall and ripped down a few lovely pieces of work because it is hard to steer especially with the extra weight on top and a co-worker just stood laughing and said, "It's THAT kind of day already Jones."
